When you take things personally, you feel offended and react by defending your beliefs, which leads to conflict. You end up making a mountain out of a molehill because you need to be right, and prove others wrong.
Following this advice from Maria Duval: It matters very little what others think of you. Whether good or bad; do not take it personally. What others feel or think about you is their problem, not yours. It is their way of seeing the world.
Some people will think you are lovely and some will consider you as annoying or selfish others will see you as skilful and others as clumsy: Their opinion of you will depend on their belief system.
